Podium finish in Rock Gault opener at Cherokee

Wells and Sons Motorsports pilot Brandon Overton invaded Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Friday afternoon for the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series-sanctioned Rock Gault Memorial. With the 43-car field split into two separate groups for a pair of preliminary features, Brandon followed up the second-fastest time in his qualifying group with an eight-lap heat race victory. Receiving the fifth-starting position for the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature via the redraw, Overton muscled forward two spots in the 25-lapper to place third, trailing Brandon Sheppard and Dale McDowell across the line with Scott Bloomquist and Jeff Smith rounding out the Top-5.
